Service
Community service is a key aspect of membership in Phi Psi Fraternity. The fraternity prides itself on its involvement both on campus and in the greater community. Below are some examples of fraternity organized service to the greater Swarthmore community. Many members are also involved in the community on an individual basis as well.
-On May 4th, 2008, Phi Psi brothers will be assisting with the running of the annual MS Walk in Philadelphia, PA. This event has become an annual tradition.
On April 17, 2008, Phi Psi hosted a fund raiser with a group on campus to raise money for Project Shingayi. The event raised over $200 to help build latrines for AIDS orphans in Zimbabwe.
-On May 6, 2007, Phi Psi brothers assisted with the running of the annual MS Walk in Phildadelphia, PA
- On March 29, 2007 Phi Psi in collobaration with Swat Sudan raised $500 the Genocide Intervention Network
During the Thanksgiving season Phi Psi Fraternity organized their first annual Thanksgiving Food Drive. The fraternity has now made the event a Swarthmore tradition. Brothers collected cans at the top of Sharples Dining Hall and collected donations to purchase additional cans. In addition to the donated cans, the fraternity raised over $200 which was used to purchase over 250 additional cans for those in need. The cans were donated to City Team Ministries in Chester. Thank you very much to everyone who donated!
On October 1, 2006 several brothers participated in the Buddy Walk for the Trisomy 21 (Down Syndrome) Center. This event took place at Villanova University stadium. The fraternity raised several hundred dollars for the cause.
