As an organization, it is important that we set a good example in living sustainably! At a recent meeting, we brainstormed ideas for staying green at school. Here are some ideas that Earthlust members had:
- Don’t use unnecessary trays/glasses/cutlery in the dining hall
- Use drying racks/clotheslines when doing your laundry
- Pick up litter around campus
- Use opportunities to tell people what you’re doing, and teach them how to be green, too!
- Turn off lights when not in use
- Use re-usable water bottles/coffee mugs
- Bring a mug for the peg board at Sharples
- Unplug “vampire” electronics when not in use
- Eat less meat, and take only what you’ll eat in the dining hall- don’t waste food!
- Take the elevator instead of the stairs
- Take shorter showers
- Use eco-friendly products,
- Study in public spaces to avoid turning on extra lights
- Communicate with workbox when you notice problems that waste energy
- Use recycled paper
- Bring your own cups to parties (Solo cups aren’t recyclable!)
- Buy less “stuff” when possible- reduce your consumption!
